As the competition heats up in the slot for the best eBook reader, both Barns & Noble with the new Nook, and Amazon with the Kindle are gearing up with new offerings of bright color capabilities and increased storage capacity. However, when you decide to compare eBook readers, be sure you take into consideration several different properties of each reader. There are probably a few things that you can live without, and a few others that you will certainly miss if you don't get them first time. So, what are the differences, and what should definitely be compared?
Well, now both the Amazon Kindle and the Barnes & Noble Nook have versions where you can read books in full color print. But that may only matter if you want to use the device as a web browser. Otherwise, it doesn't make sense to spend extra for color because most of the books on the market are printed in black and white - right?

You will have a lot of choices as you begin to look around. And then there is the question of if you want to buy just an eBook reader, or if you would consider upgrading your phone to include a reader. The obvious disadvantage of a reader on your phone is that the phone screen is very small but if you read internet pages fine on your phone, it might be worth looking into. If you like larger print, you will have plenty of options, especially with the Amazon Kindle products.
The thing is, it's not all about just reading any more. The new tablets offer a huge selection of books as well as video, music, and browsing capabilities. The main advantage of the Kindle Fire is the almost endless supply of books that are available in the Amazon book store. But that too is not such a big deal anymore because the Nook also gives you access to millions of magazines and books. The new Nook tablet is now pre-loaded with Netflix and Hulu Plus for video.
As with all technology, it's not really a life or death decision. But like I said before, there are some things you might not be able to live with if you get too little of it (like storage capacity download speed, or available book titles). So be sure to do your research and pick something that works the best for you at the present time.
