In the recent past digital market has been flooded with many gadgets. For an example Apple's iPhone has defeated every other smartphone available in the market. Though other smart phones available in the market are having same or more advanced features installed, but brand name matters. The same kind of scenario is seen in e-readers' market. Market has seen many e-readers launched in the same year, but Amazon's Kindle has been at the top. But at the end of 2009 another e-reader got launched - Barnes and Noble Nook. This one gave a tough competition to all other e-readers available in the market. Statistics say Nook is dominating almost 30% - 35% of the market. Though Nook and Kindle have almost similar features, but a couple of cool features made Nook successful. A brief comparison of these two e-readers is given below. It varies from user to user depending on which one will suit him or her best.
A concise e-readers' comparison
BARNES AND NOBLE
Both Nook and Kindle use the same e-link display that gives the user a real reading experience with no glare or backlight on the screen. Every e-reader available in the market makes use of the same e-link technology to render display, so doing an e-readers' comparison based on this feature would not be a good idea.
A cool feature provided by Barnes and Noble Nook is the touchscreen facility which is not found in Amazon Kindle. For navigation purposes in Kindle the user has to use a 5 way controller and for typing there is a keyboard, whereas in Barnes and Noble Nook everything is done on a LCD touchscreen. If you want to type anything on your Nook then there is a virtual keyboard available for you.
Both e-readers provide wireless connection to access their e-book stores and both have millions of e-books available in their stores. One thing which is not available in Nook is Internet access. All you can do with the wireless connection in your Nook is to download and browse e-books from its store.
