Here are the top 10 worst cities for allergy sufferers according to research done by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.
The 10th worst city for allergy sufferers is Augusta, Georgia. We all know Augusta from the Masters Golf tournament, now we also know this city has a pollen score that has poorer quality than average. The only reason they were not lower on the list is because they have more allergist per patients then the average city.

The city in the 9th spot is Little Rock, Arkansas. Little Rock has above average pollen scores and above average certified allergist. However, they are worse than average when it comes to the amount of allergy medicine used per patient.
City number 8 is Dayton, Ohio. Last year they were sitting at number 64. Dayton had the most drastic drop of any of the top ten cities. This year Dayton ranked below average in all three categories!
Number 7 is Greensboro, North Carolina. This city made a move up the list this year as it was ranked number two last year. It came in below average in all three categories, but don't blame its flowers, pollen is also released by weeds, grasses, and trees.
McAllen, Texas, comes in at number 6. It was above average for spring pollen counts as well as the amount of medicine used per patient. However, because of its exploding population, it was below average for certified allergist.
Another city that made a big drop is Wichita, Kansas, which sits at number 5. It was ranked at 48 on last year's list. It dropped because of its below average pollen count and the amount of allergy medicines that were used. It does however have above average allergists.
The capital of Wisconsin comes in at number 4. Madison wasn't even on the bad list last year so coming in at number 4 was a shocker. The biggest mover on this year's list can attribute it to last year's pollen count and worse than average medicine usage.
The 3rd worst city on the list is Charlotte, North Carolina. It dropped 20 spots from last year's rankings due to its low averages in all three categories.
Knoxville, Tennessee, comes in at number 2. The category that caused its low ranking was its high rate of allergy medicine consumption. The only reason it was not the worst city on this list is because it was average for its pollen score and allergist.
The home of the worst ranking for allergy sufferers is also the home of the most famous horse race. Louisville has worse than average in both pollen count and medicine usage. So for the next Kentucky Derby, bring your favorite allergy medicine.
